Firefox reaps millions from Google association?

March 21st, 2006 Posted by : Found Agency

If, like me, you’re a massive fan of the Firefox web browser, then you’ll be pleased that the software actually makes some money for the people that made it. Through its association with Google (the default Firefox home page is a Google search box and there is a Google search bar for the browser), it’s been reported that Mozilla Corp has made approx US $72 million in revenue. Mozilla Corp has said the revenue figure is inaccurate - but that it’s not far off the mark, either.

For those who don’t know, Mozilla Corp is the for-profit subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation - which to my understanding is a not-for-profit entity that built the free Firefox product (along with many other open-source software projects).

If you’ve never tried Firefox you can download the software for free. I strongly recommend the product - it’s made surfing the web a way better experience for me.
