Google aiming for US$100 billion in revenue?

March 3rd, 2006 Posted by : Found Agency

I read a fairly staggering blog post today that Google CEO Eric Schmidt had told financial analysts that Google’s aim was to become a “100 billion dollar” company. Given that Google (even with its 14% share price slide) already has a market cap well over US $110 billion, it seemed like a .

Well on further investigation it turns out that Schmidt’s comment was somewhat taken out of context. If you read this article you will see that he actually said to the closed meeting that Google would “leave it to you to judge whether that (aim) is $100 billion in market capitalization or revenue”.

If it’s revenue Schmidt is actually talking about, then that means Google’s aim is to increase revenue by 1,000%. Not exactly small aspirations.
