Jeremy Zawodny does not sound impressed

March 27th, 2006 Posted by : Found Agency

You may have seen last week that Google has released a new website, Google Finance. If you are an internet junkie and haven’t seen it, go check it out: it’s got a very nifty interface and is no run-of-the-mill internet site. Professional investors will probably be left wanting more but for retail investors it’s a nice site. (This assumes you are in the USA and like Google’s style of interfaces - the site predominantly serves only information about USA companies for now. This is why I personally still prefer the Yahoo Finance site: I’m Australian, give me Australian data!)

Interestingly, only a few days after G-Finance went public, one of Yahoo’s most famous employees, Jeremy Zawodny, wrote publicly about the site. He didn’t bag Google Finance but instead asked the question of why had Yahoo had let Google implement nifty features that Yahoo had been planning for years … but still hasn’t got around to rolling out.

One thing I do have to comment on here: Yahoo Inc has to be commended for allowing its employees to write blogs such as Zawodny’s. It can’t be easy for either party but the fact he can still work there and write that kind of stuff is pretty huge.
