Wall St turning against Google’s "no forecast" attitude?

March 10th, 2006 Posted by : Found Agency

According to a Times Online article, Wall St analysts are growing weary of Google’s “we don’t do forecasts” policy.

An analyst from RBC Capital Markets sparked a reaction when he gave a golden quote to a business reporter that “Issuing guidance is not ‘evil”" (referring to Google’s famed “Don’t be evil” mantra). When Google initially went public it decided would not provide guidance and investors would have to basically “trust” the company’s strategy. For a company worth over 100 billion US dollars, that is one hell of a lot of trust.

After a major share price slide recently, investment analysts appear to be applying pressure to have Google’s forecasting policy brought into line with standard Wall St practices.
