The city of San Francisco has signed a landmark deal to provide free wireless broadband access to its residents. Under the deal, which is provided via Google and ISP provider Earthlink, San Francisco residents will have access to a free, but ad-supported, wireless broadband service. Faster wireless broadband speeds, presumably also ad-free, would be available for a monthly fee. At this stage full details about the service are unclear but you can read more here.
